Wilmington - The Wilmington City Council approved $70 million in financing on Tuesday night (4/18/2023) to purchase the downtown Thermo Fisher campus. The agreement would impose a 1.5 cent per dollar increase on the local sales tax to complete the building puirchase. The vote was unanimous, with Republicans Luke Waddell, Charlie Rivenbark, and Neil Anderson all voting for the building fiancaing and the sales tax increase.
Along with our endorsed candidate, Melissa Mason, all of the Republican candidates won a spot of the New Hanover County Board of Education. The New Hanover RLC congratulates all the winning candidates, while being particularly thrilled with the results for Melissa.
